FAQ

Where is Galilee Lutheran Church?  How do I get there?

Galilee is located at 8860 Soda Bay Road in the Kelseyville Rivieras.  If you are coming from the direction of Buckingham, we are about ¼ mile past the old Konocti Harbor Inn.  If you are coming from Highway 29, turn at Soda Bay Road towards the lake, go past the Riviera Market shopping center and we are about 3 miles farther along. The church is on the lake side of Soda Bay Road.

Where can I park?

There are three parking lots.  One is behind the Community Center, one is a small 6-space lot at the top of the church building, and the third is a larger lot on the corner of the church property.  Turn right on Bass Road and right again into the parking lot.  The small parking lot nearest the church’s front door has a “first-time visitor” space.  Feel free to use it.

Is the property wheelchair-accessible?

All three lots have handicapped parking spaces.  The church itself is on level land with the top two lots, and all entrances are wheelchair-accessible.

What should I wear?

Dress is casual.  Summertime, particularly, is good for shorts and sandals, but at all times, come as you are.

What time is your service?

Sunday worship is at 10:00 am.  In the summertime, we have traditionally had outdoor worship at 9:00 am, but due to wildfire smoke the last three years, we have remained indoors.

Do you have childcare available?

At Galilee, we believe that children should be in church.  We have a table in back of the church where they can sit and draw or color.  Generally, we hope that children will be welcomed into the worship service and, perhaps, even enjoy it.

Do you have Bible Studies or study groups?

We have a Tuesday night Bible Study at the church at 7:00.  Other groups come and go as needed.

What kind of music do you use?

We have tried to retain our traditional Lutheran roots and still enjoy more contemporary music.  As a result, we often have a traditional hymn and liturgy, a gospel song from grandma’s day and a more rockin’ piece from only 50 years ago.  We have a piano, guitars, mandolin, and the occasional violin, flute, or drum.

Do you have food?  Coffee?

Of course we have coffee.  We’re Lutheran.  We also have snacks on Sunday morning.  We plan a ptluck or free meal about once a month

How long are your services?

The services average an hour or 70 minutes.  But we don’t watch the clock too closely.

Do you preach the Gospel?

Absolutely!  Also the Epistles and the Old Testament lessons.  We believe that the Bible informs our lives as Christians in our community.

What else do you believe?

We believe that Jesus defined it best when he said there are two great commandments: love God, and love each other.  As such, we strive to love God through our worship, our prayers and our gratitude, and strive to love each other through our volunteer and service activities and the way we live from Monday to Saturday.
